Costa Rica Adventure Vacations
INCREDIBLE BEACHES AND BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE
ADVENTURE AND DISCOVERY
How are our trips different from other vacations?
Unlike many tropical vacations that confine travelers to the resort property, we encourage you to experience total cultural immersion. Enjoy street side cafe's and shops of Playa Samara, browse the artisan gallery and hand made bathing suit and clothing boutiques. Buy fresh produce right off of the fruit stands and dine at one of the many beach front restaurants without the fear of getting ill. In Costa Rica the water and food are both safe to consume so you can eat and drink without worry. Meet the locals, everyone is very friendly. Costa Rica has once again been voted to # 1happiest country on earth. We've personally visited almost every local establishments and although we've found them all to be good, we know which ones are great. We look forward to sharing all of this with you on your Amazing Yoga Travel Getaway
The day has so many things to offer but so do the evenings. You could retire early to your well appointed air-conditioned room with your favorite book or maybe enjoy delicious cocktails and food at the hotel restaurant. Turtle nesting tours are a popular evening activity but so is dancing, dining, mingling and staying out late in town. However you choose to spend your time, we will help you with the arrangements, it's truly our pleasure. Tell me more about this trip here

Tamsy Markham
Tamsy is the Creative Director & Founder of High Street Yoga Studio and North East Power Yoga, both located in Westerly Rhode Island. She graduated from Skidmore College with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Asian Studies. These ancient teachings continue to inspire and impress upon Tamsy that the mind/body/soul connection of yoga are an integral part of her own evolution as well as sharing it through teaching Vinyasa Yoga and in training teachers.
Tamsy began training with Baron Baptiste directly in 2002. Tamsy has attended and assisted Baron Baptiste at yoga teacher trainings, personal revolution bootcamps and Yoga Journal Conferences held both nationally & internationally. She is certified by Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour and E-RYT 500 level, 500-hour with Baptiste Power Yoga Institute and is a Certified Yoga Life Coach.
Jen Dahlgren
Jennifer Dahlgren, MS, RD, E-RYT 500, trained with Alan Finger in ISHTA yoga and is currently training with Baron Baptiste in Power Vinyasa Yoga. Jennifer teaches a breath-centered practice in an inspired vinyasa flow that is adaptable for various levels of practice. Her classes are fun and light, yet strong and challenging. She aims to inspire and enliven her students in energetic classes that work the physical body, and awaken and balance the emotional and spiritual bodies. Her extensive study of alignment and injury prevention provides a safe environment to encourage students to play their edge. She taught nine classes a week in New York City for Be Yoga, now Yoga Works, as well as numerous private and corporate clients, and continued to teach as she traveled across the country. She's taught beginners workshops, supervised teacher trainees as assistants in her classes, as well as taught Yin and restorative yoga classes. Ultimately, she teaches the transformative power of yoga in a practice that connects each student to their authentic, radiant self from which to lead an extraordinary life. Jennifer also works as an Oncology Dietitian at Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center and recently earned a Master's Degree in Nutrition at University of New Haven.
Attending Teacher
Larry Caruso
Associate Baptiste Power Yoga Instructor Co-Leader
Larry: I keep it lite and fun, while offering an all levels class. This is yoga designed to allow everyone to practice at their greatest ability. Whether you've never done yoga before or you have a deep practice, the all levels class we teach in Costa Rica will satisfy everyone. I’ve completed Baptiste Level 1 Teacher Training 2009 in New York, Baptiste Level 2 Teacher in Austin 2010 as well as the Baptiste Teacher Assist program in Cambridge. I've taken class with Rodney Yee, Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Anna Forest, Richard Freeman and others. I've taught in numerous studios in the US and the world, including India.
How I got started: The book Journey into Power by Baron Baptiste sat on my nightstand for 2 years before I opened it. After the first 10 pages I'd decided I was going to try Hot Power Yoga .... that day! Being a long distance runner and weight lifter I thought it was going to be a breeze. I walked into my first class a few hours later. I approached yoga head on and to my surprise it physically floored me. Over the next few weeks the teachers showed me how to try easy and how to rest in the resistance as opposed to using bull force.
Instead of me doing yoga I was taught how to let yoga do me. I found the balance between not enough and way too much, it was a watershed moment in my love for physical activity. Like many others I thought yoga was just bending and stretching exercises, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root to "unite" - that being the union of mind and body. Through my practice I learned how to slow the train down, calm the mind and minimize the daily worries that life can present. It eliminated aches I’d had for years and increased my core strength to levels previously unattainable. The icing was to discover that my interest in self-transformational writings from authors like Lao Tzu, Deepak Chopra, Echardt Tolle and others now had a place in my daily life. What a marriage, mind and body growing together in harmony.
I continue my education through the Baptiste organization and its affiliates. Beside my love for yoga, I’m passionate about running, having covered about 25,000 miles in 11 different countries. Some of the more memorable runs were with the Tokyo’s Runners Club at The Emperor’s Palace, Circus Maximus in Rome and the Pan American Highway in Central America.
I am truly honored to be part of the Amazing Yoga Travel team. Sharing what I love in life brings me the greatest joy.

Making your flight arrangements for this Trip
Liberia International Airport Costa Rica (LIR) Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport ) Make sure you choose airport code LIR and not the one in the country of Liberia.
Please book your flights to arrive before 4pm on the first day of your trip and to depart after 11am on departure day of your trip. Your destination airport is (LIR) Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport ). This will also be your departure airport, leaving on the last day of your trip. Below is a list of airlines that fly into this airport.
We do this often. Extend your trip by a day or so on each end. You could arrive on a Thursday or Friday and then leave on a Sunday or Monday, this may save you on your airline tickets. Although we're not able to provide you with the round-trip airport transportation, we will help you make transportation arrangements
We run our semi-private air-conditioned shuttle service to and from Liberia International Airport and the resort property. It will depart the airport for the retreat in the late afternoon on the first day of the getaway. The ride is approximately 1.5 hours and very picturesque, so don't forget your camera. Very affordable - price varies depending on how many in your party

Alternative flight arrangements if you want to land in San Jose
San Jose International Airport ( SJO ) If Liberia International airport is not something you want to do, you can fly into SJO. We've done this many times. We do not run our shuttle to this airport, we can suggest some affordable options. We rent a car at Avis and make the 4 hour drive to Playa Carrillo. The drive is beautiful and there is a newly opened expressway that goes from San Jose to Puntares, that's about 3/4 of the drive. From there you are on paved double lane highways the rest of the way to the resort. Paid private shuttle or private driver service is available to and from this airport, we can help you make these arrangements directly with them.
